Snake Suspenderz at the Gage Drawing Jam on 12/07/19

Some or all of the mighty Snakez have played the Gage Drawing Jam since before it was Gage Academy of Art. In fact, we found our long-time drummer, Andrew Hare (now, sadly deceased) playing this very gig.

This year we’re going back to our roots, with just Thaddeus and I holding down the fort. Think of it as “Snake Suspenderz Classic and you won’t be too far off.

The Drawing Jam runs from 9am to 6pm, and we’ll be jamming in room 200, where there are live models (of the nude persuasion) for you to sketch. We’ll be on from 1pm til 3pm.

There’s plenty of other choices at the drawing jam, from still lifes to costumed models to working in other mediums despite being called the “drawing” jam.

Stop by and say hi!

Snake Suspenderz at the Moisture Festival on 03/23/19

It’s the 16th Annual Moisture Festival and we’ve been invited back for a couple of the late shows. Since the late shows are more adult-oriented we may even blow the dust off some of our naughty tunes. Come check out the show. You’ll have a blast, I guarantee it!

Snake Suspenderz plays a Music in the Mini Park concert on 08/01/18

Snake Suspenderz will be playing week 8 of 10 in the 4th Annual Lake City Music in the Mini Park concert series.

The park itself is at 125th and Lake City Way, right near the library and where they hold the Lake City Farmer’s Market. It’s easy to get there by bus, I used to busk at that Farmer’s Market quite a bit.

While I can’t guarantee there’ll be no changes, as of this time the line-up looks like this. (I’ve included links where I could find them.)

  • June 13 – Jump Ensemble – contemporary jazz
  • June 20 – Gansango – West African drumming
  • June 27 – Ana Morales & Flamenco Danzarte – Flamenco dance & percussion

Snake Suspenderz open for The Righteous Mothers! 04/07/18

The Righteous Mothers

Snake Suspenderz is excited to open up a show for local legends, The Righteous Mothers!

The Righteous Mothers use humor and their original tunes on contemporary topics such as: Supreme Court decisions, Palm Pilots, ice cream, domestic violence, and relationships, to reach people young and old, gay and straight, rich and poor. Their performances routinely elicit tears and laughter and effect audience members so personally that it is not unusual to hear comments such as “this is the best therapy I’ve had in years” and “I don’t remember the last time I laughed so hard.”

The Righteous Mothers arrange mind-blowing, intricate close harmonies backed by strong, lively and varied instrumentation, sprinkled with fun, off-the-wall choreography. An evening with The Righteous Mothers seamlessly weaves through the various genres, including folk, jazz, gospel, country, and good ol’ rock n’ roll.

Snake Suspenderz will be playing our relentlessly quirky blend of novelty songs and hits of the 1920’s and 30’s, with a generous helping of original tunes written in those styles. By turns snarky, sentimental and exuberant, Snake Suspenderz brings wildly entertaining musical fun for the whole family, in keeping with their mission to spread, “hot jass, hokum and novelty music —with a bite!”

The venue is lovely, the doors open at 7pm, and you simply don’t want to miss this one!
