    Howlin' Hobbit mp3 Downloads!

These mp3s are available for streaming play or download. Choose the hi-fi version if you've got a broadband (cable, dsl, etc.) connection and the lo-fi version if you're on dial-up. You can also download the hi-fi versions (so you can take 'em "to go" on your iPod). You'll probably have to do the "right-click/save link as" thing (or whatever your browser requires in that dept.) for the mp3 downloads to work. Some songs on this page are finished product and some may be subject to remixing... check back every now and again to hear the latest!

You can also check out my list of YouTube videos!

    Too Soon Old
Finally another tune on the MR-8. This is just played and sung "direct-to-stereo", dumped into Audacity and a touch of compression, a wash of reverb and a normalization later I present it for your delectation. The song was inspired by one of my Grandpa's favorite sayings and I just finished it at the end of 5/2006.

    He Might Be A Vampire
A little dating advice. It's the first thing I recorded using my new Fostex MR-8 digital recorder. You can read the saga about recording it if you're curious.

    Home On The Range
A very old song, reputedly sung to a newly elected F.D.R. by a collection of reporters on his front porch. Not my usual fare but it is such a pretty old tune. Features guest vocals by the Chickadee Glen Mens Chorus.

    Teddy Bear's Picnic
This is a public domain tune and is slated for release on "Wax Cylinder", the first of three mini-CDs that I'm calling "The Gramophone Series". It's currently still in the "rough mix" stage and features me on ukulele, vocals and slide whistle and Uncle Pappy on baritone horn. Think of it as sort of a creepy kid's song.

    20th Century Fads
A hokum tune I penned towards the end of 2004, also slated for release on "Wax Cylinder" and still in its "rough mix" phase. It's like a tune you could have found on a turn-of-the-last-century wax cylinder recording except the lyrics are definitely this century. I'm on ukulele, banjo ukulele, harmonica and vocals and Uncle Pappy is once again on the baritone horn.

    Jitterbug Blues
A song written by my guitar guru (K.W. Todd) and me way back in the late 80's and recently "uke-ified" by me. In Seattle if you're a songwriter you're required by law to write a song about rain and one about coffee. This is my coffee one. It is slated for release on the third disc of the Gramophone Series (Wax Cylinder is the first disc).

    Goddess Kring
This is about local Seattle legend and community access TV star, Shannon Kringen. She caught my attention in a late night channel surf by being dressed only in random splotches of paint. It will be released on either the second or third mini-CD in the Gramophone Series.

    That's How Judi
This song is the first one I ever wrote on ukulele. It's available on the Snake Suspenders first release, Preliminary Slither. It's a slightly (but gently) skewed modern love story. It features me on ukulele and vocals and Thaddeus on bass trombone.
